SUPPLIES NEEDED:
- A “nook” somewhere cozy and private
- Bible and/or devotional (e.g. Jesus Calling for Kids)
- Journal and pen
- Art supplies
- Music
OTHER IDEAS:
- Artwork
- Plants or flowers
- Blankets and pillows
- Candles (requires adult supervision)
- Incense or oil diffuser (requires adult supervision)
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Set up the space. The goal is to create a beautiful, cozy, sensory-driven space to interact with God.
- Explain the concept to your child: This is a special place just for them to be with Jesus. They can listen to music, draw, read the Bible, reflect on some artwork, journal, or just rest.
- Ask your child if they’d like you to stay and have your own time with God, or if they’d like to be alone.
- Set a timer. Start small (10-15 minutes) to aim for wins.
- Open and close the time with prayer.
- When you are finished, ask about their experience, but do not require that they share.
