SEARCHING STAGE / AGES 12-18

• Bible reading and devotional reading. Start aging up, take them to pick out a new Bible - children’s Bible may seem “childish.” 
• Inductive study in a group of peers/adults.

• Help them design their own daily quiet time. What would it involve? Music? Art? Identify the child’s devotional “style” and allow for variance with the parents’ style.
• Worship music / worship nights

• Mission projects (with our without family)
• Tithing
• Serving in community – regular volunteer work
• Mentoring younger kids
• Leading Bible studies for seeking friends 
• Inviting friends to church.

• Significant mentor relationships with non-family adults - their “5” (from Sticky Faith)
• Significant role models 5-10 years older
• Youth group or other safe place to ask questions
• Serving at church – teaching Sunday school, serving on worship team, volunteer team
• Summer camps / Family Camp
• Weekend retreats
• Rites of passage such as confirmation, or coming of age celebrations (“Primal Path”)

• Christian books, including autobiographies and other story-based formats.

Many affiliative practices still apply.
