IMAGINATIVE PRAYER

SUPPLIES NEEDED :

  • Blanket + pillow
  • A cozy spot
  • Music

INSTRUCTIONS :

  • Invite your child to grab their blanket and pillow and find a cozy spot (couch, floor, bed, etc.) in a quiet part of the house.

  • Put on some soft instrumental music. Use the same music every time to trigger a wind-down response. If you need a suggestion, we recommend Piano Lullabies, Vol. 1 by Hillsong Kids Jr.

  • Explain the practice. Tell them: “We are going to use our imagination to talk to Jesus!”

  • Lead them through the practice (3-5 minutes max):

    - Invite them to close their eyes.
    - Invite them to imagine or picture Jesus in their mind.
    - Invite them to tell him anything they’d like to tell him.
    - Ask them to notice anything that Jesus does or says.
    - Invite them to open their eyes.
    - Invite them to share anything they saw or heard.

  • As long as it sounds like Jesus’ character and doesn’t contradict anything you know from Scripture, close the time by thanking Jesus for speaking to your child.
